At every level of government there are states, counties, and cities which operate on a budget which does not spend more than the revenue available. In the private sector there are companies both large and small which cannot operate on monies they do not have. And when it is necessary to borrow, there are established parameters for repayment. You and I are expected to balance our checkbooks - or lose our credit rating, and suffer other consequences.
Who is responsible for holding our federal government accountable? We the people! It is time we told our representatives in Washington to pass a balanced budget amendment, or they will be voted out of office. We should expect no less from them than we do of ourselves. There is no need for this spiraling debt.
President elect O'Bama wants us to see him as a catalyst for change. People of America -- WE are the REAL agents of change!

Time for something new

As I look at the way our two political parties have evolved over the past several years, I have become disenchanted with both. We have reached a point where the democratic party is more fiscally conservative than the republican party. Yet the republican party still maintains the moral right (both meanings intended).
We need a new party that will continue to embrace the moral issues which are still precious to a majority of Americans, and will be as fiscally conservative as all Americans deserve. This election, as much as any before, has served to highlight our need as a nation to free ourselves from economic entanglements with any other nation - or group of nations. We need another revolution. We need to free ourselves from the economic tyranny we have created for ourselves.
It is time - to be energy independent.
It is time - to be fiscally independent.
It is time - to lead the world again in research, development, and manufacturing; as well as invention.
It is time - to keep jobs here at home.

We once were all these things.........
Then we lost our vision; and "where there is no vision, the people perish."

Please - share your ideas about how we declare our fiscal independence. Be specific.
We are Americans. We can do this.
I believe in you!

A Beginning

I have long wanted to create a forum in which to discuss politics from a personal perspective.
